Proper and stable placement of the rodent during surgery is critical to its success. The placement of retractors in a secure manner is also vital. The FST Surgery Plate provides these parameters. The plate is made of matte stainless steel, to reduce glare from heating lamps. Its dimensions are 14cm x 24cm. The perimeter slots will secure the stainless steel retractor ball chains, offering retraction in every direction, lateral, and upwards with the help of the elevated chain holders. With the help of the ball chains the animal can also be held firmly in position. Four feet will lift the platform by 1.5cm to facilitate the locking of the retractor chain. The ball chain retractors are of stainless steel, 21cm long, with a sharp hook at one end. 5mm wide stainless steel hooks can be attached to the sharp hooks if it is desired. The stainless steel chain elevators are 8.5mm high and slip securely over the edge of the plate.
